Welcome to Welamukotuk First Nation, a proud Wolastoqey community located along the beautiful Wolastoq river in Oromocto, New Brunswick.
Surrounded by the strength of our people and the richness of our culture, Welamukotuk is a place where tradition and community spirit guide us forward.
We are proud to launch our new community website! A central place to connect, learn, and stay informed. This site is designed to make it easier for our members and partners to access information about our services, programs, and initiatives.
Our goal is to keep you connected with the work we are doing together to strengthen our community, support our families, and build a strong future for generations to come.

On September 25, at the Delta in Fredericton, the six Chiefs of the Wolastoqey Nation stood in unity with Premier Holt and Minister Chiasson to sign foundational revenue sharing agreements. These are similar to our previous tax agreements and will allow us to keep a large share of the taxes collected at our band businesses instead of remitting it back to the CRA.

We are looking to change the name and logo for the Welamukotuk Wellness cannabis shop and C&C have decided to put it out to the community for competition.
We are trying to get away from the Welamukotuk Wellness name cause people often get it confused with our health center. The name should be catchy and easy to read for advertising purposes, the logo should be self explanatory, so when people see the sign they know right away its a cannabis shop. We will be offering 500$ for the best design and looking to get it done with in the next 3 weeks.
Anyone interested in submitting can send it to email at David.verner@ofnb.com or drop them off to the bandhall. Deadline is October 9th and we will be picking the winner the week after that!
Chief and Council are pleased to formally announce the four families selected for the new duplex units on September 16, 2025.
We extend our sincere congratulations to each of the successful applicants. These new homes represent an important step in addressing the housing needs of our community and reflect our continued commitment to supporting the well-being of our members.
Chief and Council also recognize that the housing shortage in our community is a serious crisis that impacts many families. We ask for your patience and understanding as we continue our efforts. Please know that housing remains a top priority, and we are actively working to close the gap and ensure more members have access to safe and secure homes.
On behalf of Chief and Council, we thank you for your continued support and trust as we move forward together.

If you are looking to get wood for the winter, please reach out to Julieanna Baker for support and coordination.
