Position Duration:
February to the end of March
Duties & Responsibilities:
Shoveling snow from community walkways and entrances
Applying salt and sand as required
General winter cleanup and maintenance duties
Other snow and ice control tasks as needed to ensure community safety
Requirements:
Ability to work outdoors in winter conditions
Physically capable of snow shoveling and related tasks
Reliable and able to work as scheduled

Wolastoqey First Nation Communities Session – February 12
WNNB and Fisheries Directors invite all community members to attend a special session to discuss matters related to the 2025 elver season and early planning for a successful 2026 season.
Discussion Topics
· What worked well during the 2025 season
· Areas for improvement
· Planning for a successful 2026 season
Elver fishers are encouraged to participate and share their experiences, insights, and recommendations. Any band members interested in participating in the upcoming 2026 elver season are also encouraged to attend.
This session will also include preliminary information on the upcoming 2026 planning meeting.

Upcoming Community Meeting – DFO EMT Updates (Date TBD)
Last year, we held a community meeting with Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) to discuss the Elver Monitoring and Traceability (EMT) program. We will be hosting another session soon with DFO representatives Jarrad Sitland and Cassandra Colwell.
This upcoming meeting will focus on:
• Reviewing recent updates and enhancements to the EMT program
• Discussing EMT upcoming changes 2026
• Offering band members an opportunity to ask questions and share feedback directly with DFO

Gaspereau Fishing – Spring 2026
The Commercial Fisheries department is reviewing the possibility of leasing OFN’s gaspereau fishery for the Spring 2026 season. We are looking for band members who may wish to participate if the season moves forward.

Just a little update of WELCJ My building just hired another full time staff, Erica Sark has joined our team. We are very excited to have another member join us!!
I recently posted about looking for individuals who have different career paths, such as our C&C, painters, beaders,dancers, first responders ANYONE who is interested, to come pay a visit to us and open a little more exposure to our next generation of children of OFN.
I also am going to be looking for anyone who would be interested in hosting something for my k4 class (such as ribbon skirts/shirts) if interested please reach out to me.
I am very hopefully that in the upcoming months our building is going to be going through a few positive changes/ renos.
